At Quail Ridge Riding Club we are committed to providing a personal approach to learning. This facilitates educational and fun learning experiences for all riders of any skill level. We welcome those students and boarders who are working towards their own growth as riders and human beings through the medium of horses. Quail Ridge Riding Club is just that-a club. Safety and team spirit are required! Our club is open to anyone with a love for horses. The following programs are geared to fit a variety of needs and interests for our students.
Karen Morton is the Club Director and School Riding Instructor.
Karen has many years experience teaching English and Western riding and horsemanship to all levels. She has run numerous camps and horsemanship programs as well as having trained with various trainers. Her love for kids is unsurpassed. Her kind approach and dedication has won her the hearts of many young riders in the club. Karen is one of our clubs' rising stars and has competed in both Dressage and three day.

Our camps provide educational segments, with a hands on workshop. Topics include: Feeding, nutrition, first aid, tack/ tack care, advanced grooming, and more!
Riding camps require students to have a basic level of skill since there is a structured 45 min to an hour group lesson with 3 to 4 riders each day. Campers ride twice daily. It is recommended but not required that riders take a pack of 4-8 lessons. All camps include wonderful horse related crafts. Campers must bring lunch, a helmet and boots with a one inch heel.

All lessons are scheduled with flexibility and on a pay as you go system. Students arrive early to take their 45 min. private lesson. English or Western. Beginner lessons teach basic riding skills. Students can earn and prepare for semi-private lessons, group lessons, jumping, trail rides, leasing, horse ownership and showing. Children must be 5 or older to take lessons. All programs are applicable to our cancellation policy.
$50. ea.- Private lessons
All students start with a ground lesson which covers safety, leading, grooming and tacking-up.
$35. ea.- Group lessons
Groups are offered daily based on your riders schedule!
This very affordable introduction to riding covers basic position on the horse, steering and control of the horse, basic figures to strengthen these skills, beginner jumping, trail safety and sitting and posting trot. Each session is one hour. Riders are encouraged to take the horsemanship class or private lessons so that they can arrive early and help get their horse groomed and tacked. Spaces are first come first serve.

Classes start each month and run for six weeks
Learning on the ground about horses! Feeding, leading, tack, first-aid, grooming, goal setting, stable management, and more. We offer a six week program with Watsonville and Capitola Parks and Recreation on Mondays from 3-6 p.m. Horsemanship programs are economical and fun. With all Parks and Rec programs late enrollment or enrollment through the club directly is acceptable.
Leasing: There are schooling horses available for lease. Leases can be set-up to fit your needs. 1 day a week lease (one practice ride + 1 lesson a week)- $200.00 a month/$200 for lessons a month.
3 day a week lease- $250.00 a month + lessons All riders under 18 must have an adult with them when they ride.
Adult night- every second Wed of each month. 5:30-6:30p.m. Come ride for fun, enjoy lectures and demos. $25. a session.
Schooling shows- twice a year we run practice shows for all our riders. This provides a familiar atmosphere for students to get their feet wet in the show-ring.
Annual Q.R.R.C. Schooling Dressage show and October Halloween Show-TBA.
Entrees and times will be posted on the tack room door-students are expected to participate in this twice a year opportunity to SHOW-OFF and dress up!
Annual Creative Contest-
This years theme is 'goals and dreams'. Entries should relate to horses-besides that anything goes! Stories, drawings, video-anything creative! First place-free months lease. Second place- free private lesson Third place- free semi-private lesson with a pal.
